Ultrasound Therapy

Physiotherapists sometimes use ultrasound in musculoskeletal conditions to treat chronic pain or soft tissue healing.

However, there is no clear evidence that Ultrasound Therapy works to relieve either of these. It might be purely a placebo, (a psychological effect rather than physical recovery). In addition, from our experience we have seen patients prescribed ultrasound treatment based on an incorrect diagnosis. At N3 Physiotherapy, we do not continue treatment without a diagnosis, in fact, we don’t use ultrasound therapy at all as it is not a proven treatment!
